South Africa’s Akani Simbine started the season on the right foot emerging first in a world class field, beating Jamaica’s Asafa Powell, Canada’s Andre de Grasse, USA’s Justin Gatlin and Qatar’s Femi Ogunode.

Kendra Harrison is back to where she left off last season, demolishing the field with her perfect strides over the barriers in neck breaking speed. She better not mess up the USA trials to the World Championships this year.
200m Women
Weeks after winning the 200m gold during the World Relays in Bahamas and a running a blistering 10.75 100mseason opener, Elaine Thompson was the favorite for the event. She totally dominated the race edging out Netherland’s Dafne Schippers pulling away from the rest f field in the last 40 metres. Donning some bad ass braids and purple lipstick, she came home in a time of 22.19.

Caster Semenya recorded a meeting and a world lead over the 800m with a time of 1:56:61 ahead of Kenya’s Wambui and Genzebe Dibaba.
